ONLINE COURSE BY LERA KIRYAKOVA
Discover digital illustration together with Lera Kiryakova, mistress of iPad and stylus, during our newest online course «Digital portrait».
Create 3 digital portraits — stylized cartoon characters which are made in Lera`s unique style. We will learn how to identify individual features, harmoniously magnify them yet keeping character`s recognition.
Cartoon icing
During this course we will create 3 portraits: Odri Totu, Lady Gaga and Neon light girl:
🍭 Begin with a simple portrait, on which we`ll work on main skills needed for drawing a face and learning basic techniques.
🍭 During our second portrait we will create a fatal image and interject some personality into it. We will work closer with texture and additional details
🍭 The third portrait will teach you how to work with lighting and atmosphere.
Using an iPad and drawing with Apple Pencil — this is a very useful tool that has an excellent level of pen-pressure sensitivity and pen tilt.

You don`t need to be a professional to draw vibrant and memorable characters. We don`t use classical approach and difficult structures during our lessons
Lera demonstrates her own technique to draw portraits and share
with you her own style`s secrets:
I try to work harder on characteristic features in my portraits: I make eyes bigger, eyebrows wider, face more roundish and the neck thinner to make it look like from the cartoon. Meanwhile I try to save the shape of the eyes, nose, mouth and cheekbones – because it makes a person`s appearance more recognizable.

What do we do during the course?
- Thoroughly understand the software: settings, basic tools, working with layers, color filling, filters and color correction;
- Learn the basic techniques of digital illustration: volume, lighting, various textures;
- Understand what makes a person recognizable. Study how to find individual face features and how to enhance them;
- Start to draw face elements: eyes and hair. Give a live glimpse of the eyes, texture of small and large curls of hair;
- Learn color fills, feathering, light and shadow features in digital illustration;
- Begin with simple portrait: structure, face color, shadows and color fills;
- Draw characteristic portraits: study stylization techniques and details of the backgrounds.
