Sketching. Express-Course.
An express-course by Anna Egida to get to know the world of sketching.
Ideal for the first step
We will draw the things you most definetely have at hand – mugs, cups and glasses. This is both easy and complicated, especially if you haven’t drawn anything yet. The media we are going to use will be the simplest: felt-brush pens and paper. The course will promptly help you to learn the basic principles of making sketches and how to “savour” sketching . Drawing is not as hard as you might think. What matters is to get rid of psychological barriers: the fear of an empty sheet of paper and the fear of failure. That’s why, once you learn how to work with ordinary stuff and see it from different angles, grasping their features and portraying the details in your drawings, it will be much easier for you to advance further in this sphere.

The course is especially designed for total beginners, those who have never tried to sketch and want to see if this technique works for them. Just a few simple classes with tasks will help you to come into this crazy and magic world of sketching :)
Express-Course
The course has been recorded by Anna Egida – a graphic artist, illustrator, working for the SLAVA agency, and author of online courses. Judging by our experience of working with students, everyone can draw, learning how to sketch is possible for everyone; you just need to want it. The professional artist and teacher will help you to reveal your creative potential and apply it properly, as well as teach you how to believe in yourself.
Who are my students
If you have been dreaming of drawing, but kept putting it off for some reason, this course is for you. Sketching is an easy way to come into the world of art.
The online course would also be interesting for those who already know the principles of unshaded drawing. I’ll show you how to make the
line more vivid, dynamic and expressive. I will teach you how to make the picture lighter, more impression-like. I look forward to seeing those who would like to learn how to draw the city space, to capture the imperceptible magic which lives within every city with the help of a sketch.

My Works

Galina Kryazheva – Course Supervising Teacher.
The course has been recorded by Anna Egida, while Galina Kryazheva will be the one to check the works. All her young years Galina spent in a small “closed town” of Sarov, where she attended an art-school, got a marvelous foundation as an artist and learned the basics of classical drawing. There she also tried herself in oil-painting and got to know the rules of composition. After school, instead of applying to some Arts department, she entered the Department of Physics of Moscow State University. However, she never gave up her love for art, having continued drawing everywhere she could – in books, copy-books and even on her students’ hostel walls. After the graduation she started working in a sphere completely different from art. After a while she came across Veronica Kalachiova’s Art school and started to learn. Eventually a talented student Galina became a supervising teacher of our online courses – she was the one chosen for the position by Anna Egida.
Cups (what the course consists of)
During the course of express-sketching we are practicing using the simplest examples: just take several cups and mugs from your cupboard. The tasks are easy, meant for beginners. For those who are just about to get to know sketching these lessons are the chance to make their first steps in this area.
Look closer at the cups: each of them has its own features. Round sides, simple or decorated handles, different kinds of bottom, regular or unusual shape, ear-like handles, functional elements, long stems. Each one is different from the others; these differences we are about to learn to portray doing sketches.

You will have to learn to see the world the way artists do. Details, features, different angles and a million ideas for drawing. Besides, the course will show you that each draft, each sketch is good in its own way. You’ll make several variants of the same subject and will learn to grasp the most important thing – the essence, the character, individual features of things.
What is next?
The sign up will be available until the beginning of the course (if the vacancies run off, we will have the right to close the sign-up before. The successful sign-up is guaranteed only after receiving the payment)
How we will study
- Available lessons can be watched as many times as you want and at any time.
- The lessons contain some practical tasks. The next lesson will be opened after you complete the previous practical task.
- You just take photos of your works on the tasks and post them to the class page.
- I will be available for consultations via comments for each lesson
- I will comment on the task completed, point out the mistakes, give you a credit or ask you resubmit the task. Until the work is accepted, you will not be able to proceed with the lessons.
Online learning
- During the course, all works will be visible to other students. You will see all the mistakes and their corrections. This will help you avoid your own mistakes, giving you a great chance to improve your own works.
- You can make as many corrections as you wish. During live courses, once you haven’t managed to complete the task on time or failed it, you nevertheless won’t have time for corrections, since the group cannot wait for one. While doing an online course, you can make several versions, or improve the work as many times as needed, until the teacher considers the task fulfilled.
- The online-course lasts for ten days, giving you a lot more practice, feedback and time. You can do it at any convenient time during the month.
Drawing Media
For all the lessons of this online course we are going to use markers as a main media. The list of recommended sets is to follow. You can either take my recommendations or work with pencil, brush and colors. The round synthetic brush size 3 and 4 will work well. However, I must warn you, working with the brush will be a lot more difficult. Using a marker, one does not need to watch the amount of color on the tip. A marker also feels more flexible, which is nicer for work.
Choosing a Manufacturer
Markers have three types of tip: a slim tip, a thick one and a brush. Different brands combine the tips in their sets in different ways. To my mind, the best one to start with is Faber Castell, the tip of which seems to be the best option. Tria has quite a stiff one, Copic is too flexible, while Touché gets shredded easily.
